Livigno sits in a high valley in the Italian Alps near the Swiss border, with two main ski areas: Carosello 3000 and Mottolino. Carosello 3000 offers wide, sunny pistes, four mountain restaurants and the Livigno Snow Park. Opposite, Mottolino has six mountain restaurants and the Mottolino Fun Mountain, one of Europe’s largest terrain parks.
Livigno is one of Europe’s most snow-sure ski resorts, thanks to its high altitude (1,816m–2,798m) and north-facing slopes that keep snow in top condition. The resort enjoys a long season from late November to early May, outlasting many of its Alpine neighbours. On top of abundant natural snowfall, more than 70% of the slopes are covered by state-of-the-art snowmaking, so great skiing is guaranteed all season long. It’s no wonder Livigno was awarded the World Snow Award for Best European Ski Resort in 2016.
With 115 km of wide, sun-filled pistes, Livigno offers something for every level of skier or snowboarder. Both sides of the valley are well connected by 33 modern lifts, and everything is easy to reach on foot or by the efficient ski bus service.
Freestyle riders flock here for the legendary Mottolino “Mega Fun Park 2”, consistently ranked among the best terrain parks in the Alps and used by international teams for training. Cross-country fans are equally spoiled, with more than 30 km of trails to explore.
Livigno combines world-class skiing with Italy’s warm, easygoing charm. After skiing, indulge in delicious Italian comfort food from hearty pastas and risottos to excellent-value wood-fired pizzas that taste even better on a cold winter’s night. Don’t miss the famous Bombardino, a hot drink made with egg liqueur, brandy, and whipped cream, the perfect après-ski warmer.
Evenings can be as relaxed or lively as you like: enjoy authentic trattorias, cozy mountain huts, or dive into the nightlife with buzzing pubs and clubs. Popular spots like Marcos and Daphne’s Pub offer a friendly atmosphere, while the resort disco keeps the party going until late.
Unlike most Alpine resorts, Livigno is a duty-free zone, making shopping here both extensive and affordable. From fashion and sports gear to perfumes and electronics, bargain hunters will find plenty to bring home. Add in the Aquagranda Wellness Park – one of the largest in the Alps – and Livigno offers much more than just skiing.
