“Salt of Palmar is the first luxury eco hotel in Mauritius. This resort is all about sustainability with zero single-use plastics and zero food wastage. Digital room keys and reusable water bottles with water stations are just a couple of examples of how they have reduced their carbon footprint.
Guests fly in but the food they eat doesn’t so don’t expect beef on the menu as that would have to be imported. The SALT philosophy is local and home grown so they use local producers, local farmers and ensure local communities benefit. The crockery is handmade by a local potter and beach bags are made from recycled materials by a 74-year-old basket weaver.
